Chapter 1
Chapter 01 — Getting Started
First Launch & Store Setup
Open the app. Your store is ready in seconds. No lengthy forms, no training required.

1.1 First Launch — The Home Screen

When you open KiranaMitra for the first time, the app prepares your store in a few seconds. The home screen has three main zones:

Mic Button (Big Green Circle)
The most important button. Tap it and speak the item name and quantity in Hindi or English. The fastest way to record a sale.
Quick-Add Chips (Jaldi Jodo)
Your most frequently sold items appear as tappable chips. One tap instantly adds that item to the current bill without speaking.

A banner at the bottom. Tap it to see today's full shop summary — sales, payments, and Udhar at a glance.

1.2 Setting Up Your Store Profile (First Time Only)

After your very first transaction, a one-time setup sheet appears. It takes about 30 seconds and appears exactly once.

Chapter 2
Chapter 02 — Voice
Recording a Sale Using Your Voice
Voice input is the fastest and most natural way to add items. KiranaMitra understands Hindi, English, and Hinglish.

2.1 How to Use the Mic Button

Tap the big green mic button
Centre of the home screen. Grant microphone permission when asked (first time only).

Speak naturally
Say what the customer is buying. "Do chai", "ek bread", "teen biscuit", "2 cold drink".

Review the cart
The item appears in your cart (Aapki Tokri) with name, quantity, price per unit, and total.

Add more items
Tap the mic again or tap "Aur boliye" to add another item to the same bill.
5
Generate the bill
When all items are added, tap "Bill banao · Generate Bill".

Did you mean? — Voice Recovery
If the app is not sure what you said, it shows up to 3 suggestions. Tap the correct item. If none are right, tap "Not this — try again" and speak again. This screen disappears automatically after 5 seconds.

2.2 Voice Limitations — Honest Note

When voice may not work perfectly
Very noisy environments · Speaking too fast or too softly · Uncommon or very regional item names · Strong background noise.

Solution: Use tap mode for difficult situations. Quick-add chips and manual catalog search are always available and equally fast.

2.3 Phone Position for Best Voice Results

Best position tip
Hold the phone at chest level — 20–30 cm from your mouth. Do not cover the bottom of the phone with your palm — that is where the mic is on most Android phones.

2.4 Managing the Cart

Add more of the same item
Tap the green '+' button on the right side of any item card to increase quantity by 1.
Remove one unit
Tap the '−' button to decrease quantity by 1. If quantity reaches 0, the item is removed.
Chapter 3
Chapter 03 — Quick-Add
Quick-Add Chips (Jaldi Jodo)
Shortcuts for items you sell every day. One tap. No speaking required.

3.1 Tapping a Chip

Tap any chip to instantly add that item to your cart. Tap the same chip multiple times to increase quantity. Tapping "Bread" three times adds 3 breads.

3.2 Adding a New Item to the Catalog

Tap "+ Naya item jodein · Add to catalog"
This button appears below the mic button on the home screen.

Enter the item name
Type the name exactly as you want it to appear — e.g., Lays 10g, Parle-G, Surf Excel 1kg.

Enter the price
Type the selling price in Rupees.

Save
The item is added and immediately appears as a chip on the home screen.

3.3 Updating an Item's Price

How to change a price
Long-press (hold your finger) on any chip for about 1 second. A sheet appears showing the current price. Type the new price and tap Save. The chip immediately shows the updated price.
Chapter 4
Chapter 04 — Bill Screen
The Bill Screen — Review & Choose Payment
After tapping "Bill banao", see all items, totals, and choose how the customer pays.

4.1 Reading the Bill

The bill has a navy blue header with your store name, bill number, and today's date. Below is a clean list of all items with quantities and line totals. The grand total appears in large green text at the bottom.

4.2 Choosing a Payment Method

Customer scans your QR code with any UPI app. Amount is pre-filled automatically.

Cash (Nakad)
Instant cash confirmation. No QR code. No waiting. One tap records the sale.

Udhar (Credit)
For trusted customers who will pay later. Records their name and phone number.

Chapter 5
Chapter 05 — UPI
Collecting Payment via UPI
A real dynamic QR code for every transaction. The exact amount is pre-filled — the customer cannot enter the wrong amount.

Generated in under 1 second. No internet needed. Works with Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, and all other UPI apps.

Automatic Confirmation
If the UPI payment notification arrives on your phone, the app confirms it automatically.

If no notification received, tap "Payment nahi mila — manual confirm" after verifying in your UPI app. Manual confirmation is a valid primary path — not a failure mode.

The QR area will show "UPI ID set karein". Complete your first transaction — the profile setup sheet appears — enter your UPI ID there. You can still collect cash or give Udhar without a UPI ID.
Chapter 6
Chapter 06 — Cash
Recording a Cash Sale (Nakad)
The simplest flow. No QR. No waiting. Three steps and you are done.

6.1 Cash Sale Steps

On the Bill screen, tap "Nakad · Cash"
The lower-left outlined button on the bill screen.

The app shows the amount and asks you to confirm.

One tap and the sale is recorded. App returns to the home screen instantly.

Cash sales appear in Aaj Ki Dukaandari under "Paisa mila — Cash" with the exact amount and time.
Chapter 7
Chapter 07 — Udhar
Udhar (Baad Mein Denge)
The trusted credit system every kirana shop has used for generations — now digital, so you never forget who owes you, how much, or when.

7.1 Giving Udhar at the Time of Sale

Customer Name (required)
Type the customer's name — for example, "Ramesh bhai".

Customer Phone Number (required)
Type their mobile number for identification.

Note (optional)
Add a short note if needed — e.g., "returning on Friday".

Confirm
Tap Confirm. The customer's debt is added to your Udhar book immediately.

Udhar is a memory aid, not a loan product
Udhar in KiranaMitra simply records that the customer did not pay today. There is no interest, no repayment schedule, no collection workflow. Purely a memory aid.

Each record shows customer name, phone, amount (in red), date of purchase, and any note.
Wapas Mila Button
When a customer pays back, tap "Wapas mila" → confirm → record is marked settled instantly.

All Clear State
When all Udhar is settled, the screen shows "Sab clear hai!" — no money owed.

7.3 Marking Udhar as Settled

Open the Baaki screen
From Aaj Ki Dukaandari, tap "₹X wapas aana hai →".

Find the customer
Scroll to the customer who just paid you back.

Tap "Wapas mila"
A confirmation dialog appears with customer name and amount.

Tap "Haan, mila". The record moves out of the pending view. Balance updates automatically.

Records are not deleted
The Udhar record is saved permanently for your records. It simply moves out of the pending view. You can always refer back to past Udhar history.

Chapter 08 — Daily Summary

Tap the "Aaj Ki Dukaandari" strip at any time to see your complete daily business picture.

8.2 Sharing the Daily Summary

Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner → "Share summary". Creates a short WhatsApp-ready text with today's key numbers.

Chapter 11
Chapter 11 — Data
Your Data & Background Sync
All data lives on your phone. Background sync keeps a secure cloud backup when internet is available.

11.1 How Data is Stored

All your data — every transaction, every Udhar record, your catalog items, and daily summaries — is stored directly on your phone. KiranaMitra works perfectly without WiFi or mobile data for all core features.

11.2 Background Sync

When your phone has internet, KiranaMitra automatically syncs your transactions to a secure cloud backup in the background. You do not need to do anything.

Best practice for data safety
Connect your phone to WiFi or mobile data at least once a day. Before turning off your phone for repairs or travel, open KiranaMitra and complete any pending transaction — this triggers a sync.
Chapter 12
Chapter 12 — Phone Safety
Phone Kho Gaya? Data Safe Hai.
This is one of the most important questions a merchant will have. Read this carefully.

12.1 Changing Your Phone

Sales data is backed up
Every transaction that was synced before you changed your phone is safe in the cloud.
Udhar records are backed up
Your complete credit book is saved — who owes you, how much, and when.
Catalog items are backed up
All your quick-add chips and item prices are stored safely.

1. On your old phone, open the app and complete any pending transaction.
2. Install KiranaMitra on your new phone.
3. Log in with the same account.
4. Your data will restore automatically.

12.2 Phone Lost or Stolen

Data already synced is safe
All transactions and Udhar records that were backed up before the loss are secure in the cloud. No one else can access your data.

Unsynced data may be lost
Transactions recorded while your phone had no internet and had not yet synced cannot be recovered. Keep occasional internet access for this reason.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of KiranaMitra
Small habits that compound into significantly better results over time.

Record every sale, even small ones
The daily summary, peak hour insights, and yesterday comparison only become meaningful when you record every transaction. Even a ₹10 biscuit sale takes 5 seconds with the mic button.

Set up your UPI ID early
Once your UPI ID is in the app, every UPI transaction generates a real QR code with the exact amount. Saves time and eliminates wrong-amount errors.

Use Udhar consistently
If you give credit but only record some of it, your outstanding balance will be wrong. Record every Udhar transaction — the app does the tracking for you.

Stay connected briefly every day
Even a few minutes of WiFi or mobile data per day is enough to keep your cloud backup current.
